President’s Podium
Dear Moms,
Although attending events and meetings, receiving Twin-Sphere and participating on our website’s discussion board are all nice perks to our being members of this great club, it is really through our friendship, encouragement and support of one another that makes us truly something special.
Preparing a meal for a mom in need, extending a friendly “hello” to an awkward new member at a meeting or following your gut and calling that overwhelmed mom just to reassure her that “everything is going to be ok” are all ways we continue to reach out to one another on a regular basis. In the everyday life of our club, we uplift and foster and bond. We nurture our relationships with one another, profoundly touching each other’s lives through the practice of these small feats. We are living, breathing examples of the goodness in human nature - ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Unfortunately, as is the nature of life, our joys are sometimes intertwined with worry and sorrow. Recently, we learned that a fellow mother of twins, Mamie H., belonging to the Greater Rochester chapter of the Mothers of Twins Clubs, has become seriously ill. Through our annual State Convention she has become, over the years, a friend to many of our own Nassau County members. I do not feel that, as a club, our care and support should always be exclusive to Nassau County. That said, we have donated a grocery card to Mamie and her family to spend at their favorite supermarket. Hopefully this will give them some relief from their many bills. We send this along with our love, concern and many heartfelt prayers. Please continue to remember Mamie and her family as prayers are not only needed but requested.
Thank you, members for always shining with compassion and character. The energy we exude, and the accomplishments that are born of that energy will never cease to amaze me.
Thanks to the Family Picnic Committee, Mary Elizabeth , Theresa and Nicole for organizing an amazing fun-filled day on September 13. Mary Elizabeth generously opened up her spacious home and grounds in Upper Brookville for all of our attending members to enjoy.
As the leaves begin to sway in all their Autumn brilliance, I wish you all a very safe and Happy Halloween. Consider sharing a story or picture with our Newsletter Editors reflecting the image of your family on this fun, sweet-filled holiday.
Peace, Love & Twins,
Mary Grace Roach
