April 2008
President’s Podium
Dear Members,
Happy Spring!! Finally - sunny days, cool breezes, flowers growing, what a pretty time of year! My twins Andrew and Jack, now four years old, are thrilled to be getting outside to play these days, riding bikes, playing ball, just running around and having a blast! Don’t you feel like you have that burst of energy, to finish a project around the house or just get out with friends for an evening? Come and join us – we have a lot planned for the months ahead, before we take our summer hiatus, so don’t miss out!
Last month at our General Meeting, we had our ever-fabulous Tag Sale with a bargain for everyone. Thanks to all the sellers for their wonderful offerings, and of course to Samantha and Mary Grace for their planning and organization of the evening. This month at our meeting, we will have a speaker on Child Safety Awareness. We will all have to deal with this issue sooner or later, but if you feel you’re not at that point yet, please come out to join us anyway for small group discussions that evening. We can all use a night out! Several of us will travel up to Saratoga this month for the NY State Meeting, and we’ll be sure to report back to you with the latest news and events from twins’ clubs around the state. Coming up this month, we also have our family Spring Egg Hunt, sure to be a fantastic afternoon for our children. Maybe a Mom’s Night Out is more your style, so join us for an hour or two – for a good chat and a cup of coffee. Many of us are enjoying these little breaks to connect with one another and make new friends within our club.
We all came to this club searching for something – a friend, a little support and encouragement, some validation that we CAN do this. Whatever it was that brought you here, please make the time and the effort to stay with us and give back to those new MOMs who need those same things right now. New members are walking into every meeting, and now it’s your turn to give back. New MOMs are looking for you, to share your wisdom and experience and tips for sheer day-to-day survival. And this club needs new volunteers to continue to thrive and offer that support. Club elections will be here in June and we need you! Please consider volunteering for a position on the Board for next year. Many of us are coming to the end of our two-year terms in our positions. No experience is necessary. Look at me – I joined this club in 2004, became a newsletter editor in 2005 and President in 2006, while working a full time job as an attorney and raising a family with twins, and it has been such a blast! Believe me, if I can do it, so can you! I hope many of you will make the commitment to keep our organization running strong. Without you, this club can’t function. Please contact me if you are interested or have any questions about what a position on the Board involves. Many take minimal time, but give maximum rewards to everyone.
And don’t forget to mark your calendars – the 2008 Fashion Show is coming up in May, and we need your help!! This is a huge project for our club, and there are many ways for everyone to pitch in and lend a hand - wrap some baskets, help out at the event selling tickets, maybe even be a runway model! We really need everyone’s participation to make this event the best ever. This event is our major fundraiser to sustain this club’s operations and every member is expected to support it. Contact Fundraising to join the Fashion Show Committee, details are in the newsletter. There will be fun and prizes for all! Save the date, and invite your family and friends for a wonderful Ladies evening.
As always, I am here to welcome your suggestions or ideas, and to help you on your journey of raising multiples. Please feel free to contact me at any time, our club exists for the benefit of its members. Have a great month!
Twincerely,
Theresa Koubek
